Federal Solar Tax Incentives
The Federal Energy Policy Act of 2009 established a 30% tax credit for the purchase and installation of residential solar electric systems. An individual can take both a 30% credit for the photovotaic system and 30% of the installation cost . Many state governments as well as local utility companies also have incentives to encourage home owners to become more energy efficient. Thus home owners can substantially offset the cost of installing a solar system. For more details of these programs, please check out the following documents.
